Using the Mesa 2 as a desktop PC

24 Mar 2016

Juniper Systems no longer offers the Mesa 2 (or Mesa 3) Office Dock due to the scarcity and high cost of components. However, Juniper Systems has designed a versatile, non-powered office stand (JSPN 31709) that is available starting in mid-April 2023. This office stand functions like the Mesa 2 or Mesa 3 Office Dock when you pair it with a third-party USB dock. The new office stand has a lower price, restores HDMI function (via USB-C) to Mesa 3 Android, and can be used in portrait or landscape orientation.

For additional information, see End of Life for the Mesa 2 and Mesa 3 Office Dock.

The Mesa 2 can perform as a fairly reasonable desktop PC, such as after returning with it from use in the field.

Some models of the M2 Dock accessory provide an HDMI port for connecting a monitor, as well as three USB ports such as for connecting a keyboard and mouse.

Alternative adapters (universal docks) can similarly be used with the Mesa 2, such as even for connecting more than one monitor. Though such adapters usually require you to manually attach more cables each time you connect than does the M2 Dock. One such adapter which has been tested (to a limited extent) with the Mesa 2 is described at the following web page.

Otherwise, a Mesa 2 can be viewed and controlled remotely through a utility such as one of the following.
