Is the Smart Card Reader detachable?
The CAC/PIV reader on the Mesa 3 Rugged Tablet is integrated with the device and cannot be removed.
Is the Smart Card Reader available on the Mesa 2 Rugged Tablet?
No. The Smart Card Reader was developed on Juniper Systems’ latest tablet the Mesa 3 Rugged Tablet to ensure processer needs are met for all types of use cases.
Is the Mesa Rugged Tablet barcode/RFID reader compatible with the pistol grip?
Yes and no. The pistol grip can be used with the barcode scanner, but due to where the RFID antenna sits, the RFID scanner cannot be used with the pistol grip.

Is the Mesa Rugged Tablet Hazloc certified?
Yes. Both the Mesa 2 and Mesa 3 are available in Class I, Div 2 configurations designed for use in markets requiring intrinsically safe devices. Learn more about what it means to be Hazloc certified here.
Is the Mesa Rugged Tablet MIL-STD- 810G certified?

Is the Mesa Rugged Tablet a U.S. military-approved device?
Yes. The Mesa Rugged Tablet is currently being used in every branch of the U.S. military. Did you know all Juniper handhelds are designed and manufactured in the United States?
Are the Mesa Rugged Tablets on any contracts?
Yes. Both the Mesa 3 and Mesa 2 are currently on the AIT-6, pRFID III, and GSA contract. The Mesa 2 is also an approved device on the DPAS website, with the Mesa 3 to be added soon.
Are your devices HERO certified?
Mesa 2 Windows and Mesa 3 Android are HERO certified. The Mesa 3 Windows has yet to be certified.
Does the Mesa 3 Rugged Tablet with Smart Card Reader have the native software ability to PKI-authenticate with DoD systems?
Devices running on a Windows 10 operating system natively support the ability to PKI-authenticate with DoD systems. To PKI-authenticate, users will need to download the correct DoD certificates and ActivClient. For more details, feel free to reach out.
Can your devices have components removed during manufacturing? E.g. cameras, WiFi®, Bluetooth®, GPS?
The Mesa 3 Rugged Tablet does have the ability to remove the components listed above during the manufacturing process. The Mesa 2 Rugged Tablet does not and will need to be done by the end user via software lockdown. For help, feel free to contact us.
