Built-in Wifi has disappeared
6 Jul 2012
If the built-in Wifi has disappeared, please verify that the "Allow data connections on device when connecting to PC" checkbox is checked in your ActiveSync/WMDC Connection Settings.
If you are also getting an "unidentified <or unknown> card <or device> in socket <specified number>" error message on the rugged handheld computer, some possible solutions are as follows.
- Tap on the Wireless today or home screen item, or go to Start > Settings > Connections > Wireless Manager or just Wi-Fi icon. Verify whether it is working from this screen (if not from the Today screen).
- Hard Reset - Press and hold the Power button for a full 20 seconds (even if the unit soft resets while still holding the button), or remove the battery pack(s) and wall charger for a full 20 minutes.
- Clean Boot - Set the unit to factory defaults as instructed in the user guide, or reload the operating system.
If none of the above resolves the issue, then most likely you will need to submit a repair order to a certified repair center.
