Atlas Corrections: Time Required for Satellites to Converge

21 Jun 2023

The Atlas Correction Service is a worldwide L-band satellite based correction that covers almost all of the land 75 degrees north and south of the equator. The Geode GNS3M includes an option to subscribe monthly or annually to Altas to receive extra corrections. The three options are Atlas Basic, H30, and H10. For more information, see Geode GNS3 Receiver User's Manual.

When using Atlas corrections, the satellites can take time to converge, depending on the subscription you have.

Atlas Basic: typically 5 minutes or less

H30: typically 15-30 minutes or less

H10: typically 30 minutes or less and must reach .14 m or lower

To check the level of subscription of your unit, go to Receiver Configurations > Manage Subscriptions

•    The Geode will use the highest-level Atlas subscription applied.
•    Atlas Basic is a one-time activation; once activated it is always present, unless if an Atlas H30 or Atlas H10 subscription is applied. If an Atlas H10 or H30 license is applied, then the Atlas H30 or H10 will be active and run through it’s active dates, then the receiver will revert back to Atlas Basic.
•    Atlas H10 and Atlas H30 subscriptions cannot be purchased and applied at the same time; they will conflict and one will overwrite the other and the last subscription code applied will be the active code.
•    If an H10 or H30 subscription is active, subsequent H10 or H30 subscriptions applied to an existing same-level H10 or H30 will extend the end date by the term of the purchased subscription.
•    If an H10 or H30 subscription has expired, a new subscription will start upon purchase of a new subscription.
