Enabling 128GB of Storage on Mesa 3 Android
First, check to see if this is needed by going to Settings > Storage. You will see in the main line how much data is used out of the total and will show either 64 GB or 128 GB. If you see 128 GB, you do not need to do anything more.
If your unit was shipped after January 26, 2024, with a serial number of 365744 or higher, it will be capable of increasing storage from 64 GB to 128 GB.
Note: If your device is controlled by mobile device management of some sort such as SOTI MobiControl, ScaleFusion, VMWare Workspace One (formerly Airwatch), please look to your IT department for assistance.
Step 1: Back up your device (or have a second device to copy from)
To back up your Mesa 3 Android refer to this article: Back Up and Restore Android Devices
If you have multiple devices with the same configuration, you can forego backing up data as you can transfer applications from one device to another when it has been factory reset.
Step 2: Factory Reset your device
To initiate Factory Reset, go to Settings->System->Reset options->Erase all data (factory reset). You will see a screen confirming everything that will be erased, including accounts included on your device. You will be given a second chance to confirm to erase all data. Once selected, your data will be erased, and the storage will be reconfigured to 128GB. Your device will reboot.
Step 3: Restore data to your device
Once the device has completed factory reset, it will boot to the initial screen.
If you backed up to a Google account, follow these steps:
1. Tap “Start” to begin restoration.
2. Select a Wi-Fi network to join. The device will check for any updates.
3. When you see a screen to “Copy apps & data”, select “Next” to proceed.
4. If you backed up your data, select “Can’t use other device?” and confirm that you are not restoring from another device.
5. If there was a PIN or other lock, you will be asked to provide that PIN again to restore.
6. Now you will be asked for your Google Account credentials, and you will go through the process of authentication.
7. Agree to the terms of service by tapping “I agree”. The device will then complete authentication.
8. If you have multiple backups, you will need to choose which one by tapping on it and possibly entering the PIN associated with that device.
9. Choose which items you want to restore and then click “Restore”.
10. Select which google services you agree to have on your device and tap “Accept”.
11. Set a PIN for your device and confirm it or select “Skip”.
12. Answer any additional setup questions.
13. The device will then complete restoration over the next few minutes or up to an hour, depending on the amount of data in the backup.
