Update Cellular Modem Firmware
18 Sep 2025
This information applies to Mesa 4 tablet with optional cellular data modem.
If your Mesa 4 appears to lose its cellular modem or appears to fail to complete the installation of a new SIM card, ensure that you are using OS and firmware version 25224 or later and the latest version of Windows.
- Update the Mesa 4 operating system and firmware to version 25224 or later.
- Upgrade your Windows operating system to the latest version.
Additional Details
A Mesa 4 tablet using the optional cellular modem (Sierra Wireless EM7590) for cellular data that has not updated to at least update 25224, may encounter the following issues:
- The Mesa 4 does not recognize the cellular modem. So, Device Settings > About will show Cellular Type: None.
- When changing a SIM card, the progress bar never completes.
- The cellular status never progresses beyond Getting Ready, even though the SIM card is working.
Note: This problem will not be resolved by updating only the Mesa 4. You must also update Windows.
Cautions about Resetting
If you have updated your device and then reset it (from Settings > System > Recovery or Windows Recovery > Troubleshoot > Reset this PC > System Restore), you will need to update again to version 25224 or later. If you reset without updating, you will see the issues listed above appear again.
Note about eSIM
The Mesa 4 does not support an eSIM. In some instances, resetting your device may cause the option of an eSIM to appear. This is a software error and indicates that the operating system and firmware are outdated. To resolve this, update the Mesa 4 operating system and firmware to version 25224 or later.
