External Antenna for Geode
15 Jan 2025
You may get more out of your Geode by using the included external antenna port with an external antenna. An external antenna gives you more positioning options. For example, an external antenna on a long cable could be raised above tree canopy or otherwise positioned to avoid interference with the GNSS signal.
When using an external antenna, connect the antenna to the Geode before the Geode is powered on.
Geode Model | External Antenna Port Type |
Electrical Requirements |
---|---|---|
GNS3M | MCX | 50 ohm 15VDC @ 45 mA maximum |
GNS3S | MCX | 50 ohm 15VDC @ 20 mA maximum |
You can purchase a single-frequency external antenna for use with your Geode directly from Juniper.
- Geode Single Frequency GNSS Antenna Kit (includes antenna and cable)
- Single Frequency GNSS Antenna, SMA Connector (antenna only)
- Geode SMA to Straight MCX 10-ft Cable (cable only)
Juniper does not currently sell an external multi-frequency antenna. If you have purchased a multi-frequency upgrade for your GNS3M, there are many good external antennas available. One that you might consider is the Calian Accutenna (33-7972-07) offered at this link by DigiKey.
Note: The Calian Accutenna referenced is provided as a reference and does not imply that Juniper Systems will provide full support for the use of any specific third-party device or software with a Juniper Systems product.
