Wi-Fi Mobile Country Codes
17 Sep 2024
This information applies to Mesa 4 Windows, Mesa Pro, and Mesa 3 Windows with hardware board revision 9+.
The Wi-Fi radio in the Mesa 4 Windows, Mesa Pro, and Mesa 3 Windows with hardware Board Revision 9+ automatically sets the mobile country code (MCC) by scanning the broadcasts from 802.11d and/or 802.11h access point beacons. The Wi-Fi radio scans for the MCC beacon when it first powers on or when the device is reset. The MCC cannot be modified from the Mesa.
The following table explains the method used to select the MCC.
Radio Scan Finds | Applies |
---|---|
Same code from multiple access points | Code |
Multiple codes | Majority code |
Two codes evenly split | World-wide mode |
No codes | World-wide mode |
World-wide mode is the most limited channel set and the least power output. The Wi-Fi radio defaults to world-wide mode in an attempt to remain compliant with any regulations. A Mesa tablet running in world-wide mode may appear to have trouble connecting to Wi-Fi.
