When writing software for the Allegro CX Field PC, it is recommended to use one of the following development tools.

Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003

Use the .NET Compact Framework version 1.0 SP3 on the Allegro CX to run programs written in the Visual Basic .NET, Visual C#, or other .NET programming languages.

Microsoft Embedded Visual C++ 4.0

Use this free programming tool from Microsoft to create Visual C++ applications for the Allegro CX Field PC.

Microsoft Embedded Visual Tools 3.0

If your program needs to run on the Allegro CX, Allegro CE, and/or Allegro CE/DOS Field PC models, you can use this free programming tool from Microsoft to create Visual C++ and Visual Basic applications.

Note- If you include code from the Microsoft Foundation Classes version 3.0 (MFC), Allegro CX Field PC users may need to copy the mfcce300.dll and olece300.dll from the C_Drive\C_Program Files folder to the Windows folder on the Allegro CX, and then reset the system before the application will run.
