File Explorers for Windows Mobile

The Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system includes a File Explorer utility for browsing and managing files and folders on the device. Though there are a few limitations with this program, most noticeable being the following:

• Cannot view file extensions (only associated icon images, if available)
• Cannot browse directories such as shared network folders

   

A few workarounds and third party app solutions are available, including the following:

• Connect to Microsoft ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) then explore the mobile device on the desktop PC (may need to enable viewing of file extensions, hidden files, etc. in the desktop file browser program)
